What Is Wellness Coaching?

 

 

 

 Athletes have long had coaches to help them stay healthy, keep focused and perform at their best.  A wellness coach helps you do the same in terms of your personal health and wellness. All parts of your life are intertwined. As you make improvements in one area you reap benefits in other areas as well.

 

Let’s put it this way…

You want to learn to ride a bike. A counselor might talk about your fears and past failures and help you try to fix them. An educator might describe the bike and making sure you understand the machine and the concept of how to bike. A coach will run alongside you, supporting you until you master biking on your own.

 

A certified wellness coach helps you develop and implement a personal wellness plan by:

 

·         Accepting and meeting you where you are today

·         Asking you to take charge

·         Guiding you to think mindfully and take steps that build confidence

·         Helping you tap into your motivation

·         Addressing health from a whole person perspective

·         Helping you create a personal wellness blueprint

·         Helping you set realistic goals; small steps lay a solid foundation for self-efficacy

·         Helping you discover and use your natural strengths to overcome obstacles

A great coach has many skills you’ll be able to see early on…

She listens to and enjoys your stories. She cultivates self-acceptance and self-respect. She believes in you, brings your strengths to light and helps you put them to use. She’s able to awaken, engage and challenge you to reach a little higher, just at the right moment. She knows how to celebrate your successes and make the journey fun.

And when you’re really stuck…

She takes risks and asks tough questions to help move you forward. At times, she gives you a moment to “be” in your emotional muck, because she knows doing so will ignite your desire for change.  She knows your life’s at stake if you don’t change.

 

How It Works

 

Individual Coaching
   
Individual coaching is done either in person or by phone.

    Individual in-person coaching is ideal for the woman who lives in or near Clearwater, Florida and wants personalized, one on one attention. She may have osteoporosis, arthritis or chronic pain and need help developing a specific exercise program.

   Individual coaching by phone is ideal for the woman who wants one on one attention, but has a tight schedule or doesn’t live near Clearwater.

For some women it can be helpful to alternate

in-person and by phone sessions.

 

Group Coaching

    Group coaching is offered face to face in the Clearwater area. 

    Group coaching is ideal for the woman who enjoys the energy of a group and learns by hearing others’ journeys.

     Each group focuses on a topic. There’s a few minutes of content with most of the time devoted to coaching.
      

 

What Makes Me Different?

 

For 30 years, as a physical therapist, I’ve helped people exercise and care for their bodies.

Now, as a certified wellness coach I use my unique combination of coaching skills and physical therapy knowledge to help women over 50 make lasting, healthy, lifestyle changes.

As your coach, I’ll give you the support, encouragement and guidance you need to make the changes you want.

 

Am I The Best Coach For You?

 

     Because of my background, I work with women over 50 who’ve had a wake-up call such as…

·         being diagnosed with osteoporosis or arthritis and wanting to become more active but feeling afraid,

·         noticing moving around and getting up and down isn’t as easy as it use to be and worrying about what the future will bring,

·         beginning to stoop and wanting to stand tall again,

·         feeling too tired to enjoy life,

·         being too out of shape to do the things they love,

·         noticing they’ve gotten soft around the middle and feeling frustrated or down about how their clothes fit,

·         wanting to eat healthy, become more active and take better care of themselves but finding it difficult to follow through and do these things consistently on their own,

    AND who are ready to make lasting lifestyle changes, in at least one area, so they can begin to lead the life they want.

 

    Beyond knowledge and skill level, the coach with whom you feel a connection is the one who can inspire you to make transformations you haven't been able to make alone.
